Louis Vuitton commemorates 40th anniversary of lunar landing
Neha Dutt | Jul 13 2009

The luxury fashion house Louis Vuitton is celebrating the 40th anniversary of Apollo 11’s lunar landing by creating a special customized “Malle Mars” trunk. The custom-made trunk opens up to reveal a variety of compartments, equipped with all kinds of space requirements for a trip to Mars, offering medication, tools and pharmaceuticals drawers, picnic wares, shelves for dishware plus a folding lounge chair for leisurely views of Mother Earth from the stars. On the glorious occasion, starring history-making astronauts Buzz Aldrin, Jim Lovell and Sally Ride with Vuitton North America president and chief executive officer Daniel Lalonde, the trunk as well as other NASA photographs, space toys, sculptures and astronomy photos will be displayed at the Rose Center for Earth and Space at the American Museum of Natural History from today onwards. Also for the occasion, LV is donating an undisclosed sum to Al Gore’s Climate Project.
